Virtual Multi Purpose Document

The Virtual Multi-purpose Document (V-MPD) was introduced by IATA in June 2008 to replace the BSP paper MCO and MPD.

From 07 September 2009, Air New Zealand accepts V-MPD as form of payment from New Zealand BSP travel agents.

The key reasons for the issue of V-MPD by the New Zealand agents are:

  • Excess baggage
  • Upgrades
  • PTAs
  • Carriage of dogs
  • Oxygen payment
  • Airpoints Membership
  • Mystery Breaks

Note: more than one customer will be accepted on 086 V-MPDs.

Best practice for you is to enter an OSI item into the PNR prior to travel of the V-MPD document number and the reason.

e.g. VMPD 086 12345678 ISSUED FOR PTA

Please ensure your customer is in procession of a copy of the V-MPD or V-MPD number, so they are able to present at an Air New Zealand airport service desk to enable verification and to assist with speedy acceptance.

For more information of services and on issuing an Air New Zealand (086) V-MPD, refer to BSP link.
