When a flight is full, a waitlist may be requested until such time the waitlist is closed.
Waitlisting is restricted to:
- One flight - when an alternative flight is holding confirmed
- Two flights - when no alternative flights are confirmed
Waitlist Promotion
Air New Zealand's automatic waitlist clearance system, will clear waitlist for the most eligible passengers when seats becomes available. The waitlist clearance priority takes into account the following:
- Passenger's Airpoints status
- Revenue class requested
- Number of sectors waitlisted and number of sectors confirmed in the itinerary
- Number in the party
- Order in which the waitlisting took place
When there are two or more passengers in the party, sufficient seats must become available simultaneously before confirmation can take place.
Promotion from the waitlist ceases automatically:
- 3 hours prior to departure of a flight - in the case of priority lists
- 24 hours prior to departure of a flight - for non-priority lists
Waitlisting is not a guarantee that the passenger will obtain a particular class on a particular flight.
The most important thing to remember is that a waitlist is just that - a waitlist.
