Domestic Disrupt Rebooking Examples

The main type of disrupt on the domestic network is due to weather.

Below are some examples of weather disrupts and how to deal with them.

Example one - journey not completed

Original routing same day through fare

11 JUL AKL X/CHC DUD
13 JUL DUD AKL

Scenario

Passenger travels AKL CHC onward travel CHC DUD cancelled due bad weather, flown back CHC AKL.

Options available

In this situation as the passenger was unable to complete the journey to DUD their ticketed destination, their entire ticket can be used as credit towards future travel AKL DUD.

What to do

As the Travel Agent you are able to do the following:

  • The AKLCHC sector on the ET will show FLOWN. Phone/email your Agency Sales Support to have the coupon reopened.
  • If the new travel date is the same day or within 24 hours of the disrupt, rebook the same or next lowest class, and reissue without any fare differential or change fee.
  • In circumstances where the passengers opt to hold their ticket in credit up to one year from date of issue, the penalty fee is waived, however if unable to obtain the original fare class or rerouting, any fare differential must be collected.
  • Reissue the ticket and endorse with REISS FOC DUE DSRPT DUD 11JUL for example. Or for a weather disrupt endorse REISS FOC WXX 11JUL.

Example two - first sector flown, subsequent sectors affected

Original routing separate sector fares

11 JUL AKL CHC
12 JUL CHC DUD
13 JUL DUD AKL

Scenario

Passenger completes journey AKL CHC, CHC DUD cancelled due to bad weather in DUD.

Options available

In this situation the passengers have successfully flown their first sector, this means the CHC DUD and DUD AKL  fares are available for further travel.

Passenger may choose to fly to DUD next available flight, therefore continue as per their original routing.

What to do

As the Travel Agent you are able to do the following:

  • If the new travel date is later the same day or within 24 hours of the disrupt, then you can rebook to the same or next lowest class, and reissue without any fare collection or change fee.
  • In circumstances where the passengers opt to hold their ticket in credit up to one year from date of issue, the penalty fee is waived, however if unable to obtain the original fare class or rerouting, any fare differential must be collected.
  • Reissue the ticket and endorse with REISS FOC DUE DSRPT DUD 12JUL for example. Or for a weather disrupt endorse REISS FOC WXX 12JUL.

Example three - rerouting

Original routing separate sector fares

11 JUL AKL CHC
12 JUL CHC DUD
13 JUL DUD AKL

Scenario

Passenger completes journey AKL CHC, CHC DUD cancelled due to bad weather in DUD.

Passenger may opt to fly back from CHC AKL, only the CHC DUD is available for future travel.

What to do

As the Travel Agent you are able to do the following:

  • If the new travel date is later the same day or within 24 hours of the disrupt, then you can rebook to the same or next lowest class, and reissue without any fare collection or change fee.
  • Reissue ticket for 2 sectors CHC/DUD // (open jaw) CHC/AKL.
Passenger will fly on the CHC AKL, unused CHC DUD can then be used for future travel.
  • In circumstances where the passengers opt to hold a sector in credit up to one year from date of issue, the penalty fee is waived, however if unable to obtain the original fare class or rerouting, any fare differential must be collected.
  • Reissue the ticket and endorse with REISS FOC DUE DSRPT DUD 12JUL for example. Or for a weather disrupt endorse REISS FOC WXX 12JUL.

Alternative solution

  • Reissue CHC DUD AKL sectors to CHC AKL.
  • The residual value of the CHC DUD sector, due to the complexity of an ET reissue the easiest option is, that this may be refunded on proof of a new ticket issued for the passenger of a equal or higher value.
