A disrupt is defined as a delay or cancellation at short notice, normally on the day of departure.
A disrupt can be either uncontrollable, meaning beyond Air New Zealand's control, e.g. weather, or considered controllable, within Air New Zealand's control, such as delays due to aircraft technical or engineering problems.
Conditions of carriage on Air New Zealand tickets (086)
9.1 Schedules
We undertake to use our best efforts to carry you and your Baggage with reasonable dispatch and to adhere to published schedules in effect on the date of travel. However, to do so, we may need to use a substitute aircraft, and/or the services of another Carrier or ground transportation operator ("Alternative Carrier"). We may also be obliged to change the time of flights, often for reasons beyond our control, and consequently, times shown in timetables cannot be guaranteed and thus form no part of your contract of carriage with us.
For full details please read Conditions of Carriage, Article 9: Schedules and Cancellation of Flights

All bookings must have been validated to an Air New Zealand ticket (086) prior to the disrupt.
