Under the Compassionate guidelines, the following immediate family members are eligible:
Spouse, de facto partner, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, step parent, step child, step brother, step sister, aunty, uncle, niece, nephew, and parent in law. Any spouse or de facto partner of the above is also eligible in the coverage of these guidelines.
- Spouse and de facto partner can be same or opposite sex
- Parent in law can be parent of spouse or de facto partner
- Not included in the Immediate Family criteria: cousins, great-grandchildren, spouses of grand children.
